POPS CONCERT: FEBRUARY 27, 2007

The Annual POPS concert will take place in the high school auditorium at 7:30 p.m. this coming Tuesday February 27 with a snow date of February 28. The admission/donation for the pops concert is $5.00 per person.  Children under 4 are free.   All proceeds will go to the band to help pay for the competition trip to Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida.

Included in the program are the Women’s Chorus, Chamber Choir, and the Mixed Chorus, under the direction of Mr. Victor Izzo and student teacher Mr. Robert Soricelli.  The choirs will entertain the audience with a wide range of selections including Simon and Garfunkel’s “Scarborough Fair” and Moses Hogan’s “Jamaican Market Place”.

The bands, under the direction of Mr. Joseph Horner, will be featuring the song "Amazing Grace" as part of our acknowledgment of Black History Month.  This happens to coincide with the release of the movie this weekend entitled "Amazing Grace".  The Concert Band will also be featuring our trombone section in an up tempo gospel boogie rendition of the spiritual "This Train is Bound for Glory".

Among other selections, our Jazz Ensemble will be performing two standards by Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart.  The first will feature Lindsey Grebeldinger on vocals singing the tune "My Funny Valentine".  The second tune, "My Romance", will feature Eddie Lazzari on the Flugelhorn in a Latin style arrangement of the tune.

Please join us for a great night of music and fun!
