NYS ASSEMBLYMAN BRABENEC PROMOTES SUMMER READING CHALLENGE AT INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL

To help kids stay engaged in learning throughout the summer, the New York State Assembly implements a Summer Reading Challenge each year, in partnership with “Summer Reading at New York Libraries.”

Assemblyman Karl Brabenec, a Minisink graduate, visited the Intermediate School Library on June 2. He spoke to students about the importance and pleasure of reading, and h encouraged them to participate in this year’s challenge themed, “Build a Better World.” Students who read at least 15 minutes a day for 40 days during July and August are eligible for a NYS Excellence in Reading certificate.

Given the opportunity to pose their questions to Mr. Brabenec, students were also curious about NYS government and how their visitor came to serve in the state assembly.
