Without a penny in their pockets, Mrs. Bobish and Mrs. DiSimone’s K-1 students gave from the heart on #GivingTuesday.

Mrs. Bobish introduced the students to this global giving event with a slide and video presentation, and Mrs. DiSimone thanked the students and their families for giving to Minisink Cares' Adopt-a-Family Holiday Program. Faculty and families of the K-1 loop class adopted the holiday wishes of two children.

Inspired by the spirit of giving, students made holiday cards to pair with gifts collected district-wide for Minisink Cares.

Declared for the first time six year ago, and fueled by the power of social media, #GivingTuesday is a growing global movement that encourages gifts of money, time, and kindness to charitable causes. It is celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.), and the shopping events of Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

This was the first time that #GivingTuesday was celebrated at the MVES, but not the last. Well done!
