NATIONAL SCHOOL BUS SAFETY WEEK

This week schools across the country celebrate National School Bus Safety Week. This year’s theme, Stop on Red! Kids Ahead! reminds motorists to be aware of stopped school buses and to stop any time a bus is loading or unloading children. We are also asking that parents take a few minutes to go over important safety tips for children as they get on and off the school bus:

  • Always remain in direct eye sight of the driver
  • Get to the bus stop in plenty of time
  • Never try to get anything left on the bus after exiting the bus
  • Never reach underneath the bus
  • Always follow the driver’s directions for how to cross the street
  • Be alert to traffic and look both ways
  • Always cross in front of the bus, but only when the driver signals it is safe to do so.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank our bus drivers who work hard every day to keep our children safe.
