MS Teachers Using Google Classroom

Mr. Rickard and Mr. Hoffman are currently piloting Google Classroom in the Middle School.  Mr. Rickard uses Classroom to improve student organization, enhance communication, and save time. To organize students he posts assignments, videos, and links all in one place (The Stream). Parents and students can keep track of when and what assignments are due. Google Classroom also enhances communication by allowing me to post announcements such as upcoming quizzes and tests. It also allows me to communicate to parents and students additional resources to help them at home. Students are allowed to respond to Mr. Rickard or other students that have commented so he can see who is having a difficult time with the assignment. It also saves time by allowing students to submit assignments paperlessly. He can edit and share back with them corrections or I can grade and turn back to students.

Mr. Hoffman has attended several conferences over the year and now is piloting Google Classroom with his 1st Period Science class.  Mr. Hoffman uses Classroom to create and collect assignments paperlessly, including time-saving features like the ability to automatically make a copy of a Google Document for each student. It also creates Drive folders for each assignment and for each student to help keep everyone organized. Students can keep track of what’s due on the Assignments page and begin working with just a click. Mr. Hoffman can quickly see who has or hasn't completed the work, and provide direct, real-time feedback and grades right in Classroom.  Mr. Hoffman has been utilizing Google Classroom with his 1st period class all week.  Pictures of his class using Google Classroom can be seen below.
