READING AND TECHNOLOGY CONNECT SCHOOLS AND STUDENTS

Middle school students were among the guests invited to read to Otisville elementary students during the Great Otisville Read Aloud, March 7-11.  Coordinated by OES librarian, Candice Sheerer, the annual week-long program encourages reading and the love of books.  From school to school, and library to library, older students shared favorite poems and stories with younger students in Otisville via Google Hangout, a video-chat platform.

“It was fun to experience giving knowledge to little children,” said Taren Richards, an 8th-grade student.

"I look forward to the Otisville Read Aloud every year!  The participating middle school students light up when they see how well the younger students respond to their reading," said Maggie Spicehandler, library media specialist at the middle school.
