On April 13, the Middle School Library’s Book Club participated in the Orange-Ulster BOCES Great New York Read Aloud at the Emanuel Axelrod Education Center in Goshen.

Libraries and schools throughout New York State sponsor Read Aloud events during National Library Week to give students and families an opportunity to celebrate their love of reading.

Among this year’s highlights of the regional Read Aloud were local author and storyteller Pamela Schembri--who had everyone stomping their feet with an interactive story--famous book characters in costume, and, most importantly, lots of students ready to showcase their proficient reading and their theatrical skills.

Forty students from four area schools read and performed selections from favorite books and poems, as well as original works. Skits featured works by J.K. Rowling, Lewis Carroll, Karen Kaufman Orloff, Marc Sedaka and Will Rupert. It was a memorable time for all participants.
