7TH GRADE BAND ANNUAL PLAY-A-THON BRINGS OUT THE RHYTHM IN EVERYONE

The 7th Grade Band couldn’t have asked for a better day to host its Third Annual Play-a-Thon concert and fundraiser on June 2.  On a bright and breezy afternoon, the young musicians flashed their brass and their talent outside the middle school cafeteria, overlooking lush green fields.

Families, friends and members of the school community lazed across the lawn and enjoyed three half-hour segments of music featuring favorites from past concerts and small ensemble selections (see photos for set list).  The 7th Grade Band is directed by directed by Laura Martellaro.

The afternoon did not end without a community play-along, featuring Intermediate School band teacher Andrew Hulle with members of the 5th Grade Band, parents, alumni and high school students whose own performance credits include earlier years of the play-a-thon.

The 6th Grade Band hosted a concession stand of delectable home-baked goods to raise funds for 8th Grade Band trip to the 2017 “Trills and Thrills Music Festival” in Lake George.

“It was a very joyous event. We thank everyone who came out to be a part of it, and we will continue to grow it every year,” Mrs. Martellaro said.
