FROM "HOUR OF CODE" TO CODING AS COURSEWORK

Last year, middle school students participated in the international Hour of Code. This year, seventh and eighth graders in Mrs. O’Shea computer class are working their way through the full coding and programming curriculum offered at code.org.

Beginning with course 2, students advance to courses 2, 3 and 4 by solving puzzles and learning to think like programmers. The puzzles give students an introduction to coding languages and incorporate geometry and problem-solving skills. Students find the coursework challenging and engaging and are highly motivated to advance their knowledge.
