Chinese New Year

On January 26, 2009 the Chinese New Year began with a BANG!!! Chinese New Year starts with the New Moon on the first day of the new year and ends on the full moon 15 days later. Mrs. Ey's six graders studied the traditions of the Chinese New Year by engaging in various hands-on activities.  The students learned the very important Do's and Don't, the characteristics of the Ox, the meaning behind the dragon, all about the hanging of the lanterns, and some Chinese Characters.

Here is a movie on the activities and events.
