On Friday, Nov. 13th, from 6:30 to 10:00 p.m. our S.A.D.D. organization (Students Against Destructive Decisions) will host the first student-faculty Coffee House of the year in the high school auditorium.  The event is one of four Coffee Houses scheduled for the year and is part of an 8 year tradition of high school Coffee Houses.  They began in 2001, shortly after 9/11, and have raised, and distributed, thousands of dollars to members of the Minisink and Orange County communities, while giving our students the chance to showcase their musical creativity.  The Coffee Houses wouldn't be possible without the hundreds of combined hours of generous volunteering on the part of our teachers (a number of whom have played musical numbers with the kids) and our faculty advisor, Student Assistance Counselor Jerry Sander.  Past, and present, recipients of money raised by these events include Minisink families who suffered a loss in 9/11, or motor vehicle accidents; Hurricane Katrina relief efforts; tsunami relief in South Asia and the purchase of solar cookers for those affected by starvation in Darfur.
