MVHS STUDENT DONATIONS FOR CANCER SEND MRS. HOOPER SOARING

Throughout the month of April, the high school English Department again witnessed the tremendous generosity of our students. As part of its annual involvement raising money for cancer research on behalf of Minisink Valley's chapter of Relay for Life (Sponsored by the MVHS Chorus), the English department set this year's goal at $2000. The students raised almost $2500 for this important cause, honoring Juliette Lia, and countless victims of this horrendous disease.  Students also participate in memory of Caitlin Hammeren who died in the Virginia Tech shooting.  Mrs. DiLeo's classes raised the most money, $ 1100, of that $700 was contributed by her 3rd Period class.

On Saturday, May 21st, Mrs. Hooper fulfilled her promise to jump out of a plane at The Ranch in Gardiner, NY. Witnessed by many of her students, she parachuted to the ground as an extreme way to illustrate her pride in our students' selflessness, and also in honor of deceased senior Mauricio Heredia, who donated from his own pocket to ensure her jump.
