Pictured left to right are high school assistant principal David Telgheder, students Timothy Venter, Michael Bianchi and Michael Prendergast, and assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction Christian Ranaudo.

Three Minisink Valley High School students were honored at the Outstanding Career and Technical Education Students Recognition Dinner on Tuesday, June 7, at Villa Venezia in Middletown.

Senior Michael Prendergast was recognized in the Pharmacy Technician program of the Health Careers Academy. He was nominated Student of the Month and earned consistent Honor Roll and High Honor Roll. Michal enjoys math, chemistry, cosmology, particle physics, and he is a history buff, especially in European history. Outside of school Michael participates in Chess Club and plays competitive Pokemon.

Timothy Venter was top of his class in the Fire Science program of the Security Careers Academy. While a student in the program, Timothy was twice named Student of the Month and earned the Honor Roll several times. He was also appointed Class Commander and had the responsibility of overseeing Company Officers during the program. Tim spoke to his 10th grade peers who are interested in CTE, and he was his class representative at the component school district board dinner and presentation this spring. “Taking this program at CTE has helped me develop my leadership skills and prepare me for the future by teaching me job-related skills I can take anywhere,” Tim said. Timothy Venter has his eyes set on the U.S. Marines.

Michael Bianchi was recognized in the HVAC/Plumbing program of the Construction Careers Academy. While in CTE, Michael distinguished himself for being dependable, demonstrating an excellent work ethic and keeping excellent attendance. He earned Honor Roll several times. “I’m glad I came here to learn this trade because now I can have a successful career doing something I want to do in the future,” Michael said. His future plans include attending Lincoln Technical Institute for HVAC.

Congratulations to MVHS CTE honorees, Michael Prendergast, Timothy Venter and Michael Bianchi!
