MVHS GRADUATES 13 FROM SUMMER SCHOOL PROGRAM

On Tuesday, August 23, 13 seniors in Minisink Valley High School’s summer school program officially graduated.

Family, friends, faculty and school officials gathered in the high school library to commemorate the occasion and recognize the graduating seniors.

Summer School Principal Teresia Parker welcomed guests and introduced speakers, beginning with student-speaker Makaila Nicole Bailey. Board President Joseph Flaherty and Superintendent of Schools Brian C. Monahan presented words of praise and encouragement to the graduates for their perseverance and achievement. Guest speaker and President of SUNY Orange, Dr. Kristina Young, recognized the class for their proven grit, an increasingly valued and sought-after characteristic in college applicants.

Stanley Schneider received the Association of Minisink Valley Administrators Scholarship, which is awarded to an outstanding student in the summer school graduation class.

The ceremony was followed by a reception, courtesy of MVHS School Store, and music was provided by Jordan Pesola, a high school senior.  National Honor Society volunteers Briana Spina, Leilani Potgeiter and Kyle Waltenberg-O'Brien assisted with the ceremony.

Congratulations, summer graduates of the Class of 2016!
