Imagine Billy Joel, secular choral classics, Coldplay, gospel harmonies and rhythms, Pentatonix, Latin mass, American folk – and a little Hamilton too.

At times whimsical and disarming, and altogether skillful, the high school’s Harvest Chorus Concert was an exhilarating musical spectacular and a gift to the audience in the school’s auditorium on Tuesday night. Oct. 18.

Directed by Mr. Victor Izzo, the Women’s Chorus performed an array of beautiful arrangements, from the moving choral classic “Forget Not My Heart” to the popular “Fix You” by Coldplay. The Chamber Choir delivered original arrangements of quintessential themes, such as “In the Evening,” and premiered an exciting new rendition of “Take Me Home” by Pentatonix. The Men’s Ensemble charmed the audience with Billy Joel’s timeless “She’s Got A Way,” while the Mixed Chorus made their high school debut with “A Gospel Song of Peace,” and a creative take on “Dona Nobis Pacem.” The four choruses combined for a grand finale with a selection from the cultural phenomenon and hit musical, Hamilton.

The concert was held as a fundraiser for the high school chorus, and pet supplies were collected for the Animal Rescue Foundation of Beacon, NY, to be donated in memory of Janine Izzo.

Minisink Valley High School acknowledges the community’s support of our students’ musical talent and achievements. The next chorus concert is Dec. 7. All are invited.
