MINISINK'S VOLLEYBALL VARSITY TEAM WINS FIRST ROUND MATCH OF STATE FINALS

After winning the first two sets of Tuesday's game against Ossining, Minisink's Warriors rlost the third and reached a nail-biting set point of 25-25 in the fourth. Throughout the game at SUNY Ulster, a talented and relentless hitter on the opposing team had kept the Warriors defense on edge and working double time. The game was finally settled at the net with decisive plays, closing with a 28-26 win over the Section 1 champs.

“It was an exciting volleyball match. After our first two wins, the Ossining team came back with aggressive serving and a strong offense. We hit back with the solid defense of libero Molly Clayton and an all-out attack by setters Bridget Wiley and Saige Colon. In the end, middle hitters Jaimie Polanco and Cassidy Smith overwhelmed the Ossining defense with the strength and placement of their attacks,” Coach Ellen Lain said.

Minisink will play against Corning in the Regional Finals on Saturday at 12:00 noon, at the Corning High School.
