Local veterans of the United States Armed Forces and their families enjoyed a delicious dinner served by student-members of MVHS National Honors Society, on Thursday, Nov. 10, in the school cafeteria. Lining the entrance walls were handwritten letters by elementary school students thanking veterans for their service.

The JROTC Color Guard presented the national and Marine Corps flags, and the MVHS Band opened with the national anthem. Throughout the evening, the band continued to entertain dinner guests with patriotic themes and Big Band classics.

“I’m inspired to see kids my age serving and talking to our veterans for their protection of our country. We can never thank them enough,” said NHS President Lovina John.

“It’s great to see these young kids putting so much time and effort into such a wonderful cause. These events are the ones that truly mean a lot to us vets,” an Army veteran said, expressing the sentiment of the group.

“Tonight has been a real success! I am truly happy with this wonderful event our club has put together, with the help of our amazing adviser, Mrs. Zollweg,” Lovina John said.

Be sure to thank all the veterans in your life!
