HIGH SCHOOL PE CLASS ROCKS!

Physical fitness is not the first thing that comes to mind at the mention of rockstars. But with Pound, a new kind of workout, you can jam your way into fitness with drumsticks--a.k.a., ripstix--and channel your inner rockstar.

Thanks to a grant funded by MVHS PTO, students in physical education (PE) classes are “pounding” away and having great fun with the music and movements of Pound. PE teacher Peg Lazzari was recently certified at the state conference for health and physical educators to teach this exciting new form of exercise.

According to Mrs. Lazzari, Pound is an effective, fun and challenging fitness method. Easily modified for all ages and fitness levels, Pound combines cardio, conditioning, core-work, balance, coordination and rhythm—while drumming!

The high school physical education department is thankful for the PTO’s attention to the welfare of our students. You can watch of video of a high school Pound class in progress on our Facebook page
