A CELEBRATION OF DIVERSITY TAKES STUDENTS AROUND THE WORLD

In celebration of their culture, MVHS students in Nicole Golder’s ENL classes recently presented to each other and a few guests on their heritage and native countries.

The English Language Learners (ELLs) created slideshows and shared with their classmates about favorite places, foods, customs, beliefs, sayings, and interesting cultural differences in their countries of birth.

Representing Haiti, Mexico, China, Taiwan, Guatemala, Puerto Rico, the Philippines, and the Dominican Republic, some students brought in T-shirts and traditional objects, and shared iconic foods such as recado with masa (tamales), gulaman (gelatin) flavored as buko pandan (coconut), and arequipe.
