SENIOR SARAH CERUTTI NAMED ONE OF ASSEMBLYMAN COLIN SCHMITT'S 2019 STUDENTS OF ACHIEVEMENT

Minisink Valley Senior Sarah Cerutti was named one of Assemblyman Colin Schmitt’s 2019 Students of Achievement, and was honored at an event held at Washingtonville High School on June 10.

In her nomination form, Sarah was described as being active in a variety of academic and extracurricular pursuits and is a leader both in and out of the classroom. She is a passionate advocate for equality, the environment and animal rights. Her leadership can be witnessed in the classroom, in her community service efforts and on the tennis court

Sarah ranks fourth in the Class of 2019 and has served as president of the school’s Key Club, is a member of the school's chapter of the National Honor Society and is a NYSPHAA Scholar Athlete.

Sarah will attend Binghamton University in the fall and plans to study environmental science.

Already, she has a distinguished resume of community service involvement and awards in addition to her participation in a variety of high school clubs and activities.

School districts that serve students within the 99th Assembly District were asked to nominate one student that truly stands out and is worthy of recognition. Nominees may include a student from any grade level who has left a lasting impression on teachers and school officials and has contributed positively to the school community as a whole.

"Our Assembly District has some amazing students that not only work hard in the classroom but also make positive contributions to the community as a whole," Assemblyman Schmitt said in a statement announcing the program. "These young men and women have a very impressive set of credentials and accolades already and I cannot wait to see what more they contribute to society as the years go on."
