HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR FROM OTISVILLE’S KINDERGARTNERS

Otisville's youngest learners enjoyed an extra holiday with the celebration of the Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival. Students explored Chinese culture through music, literature, and art projects.

To understand why Chinese years are named after animals, students learned about the Chinese Zodiac, consisting of 12 animals, including the rooster—the animal for the current calendar year.

The celebration culminated with a parade led by a red dragon, followed by a Chinese food lunch. (Additional Photos)
