Ms. Lees' fourth grade class went on a trip to historic Huguenot Street in New Paltz, NY.  The students read about the Huguenots in their New York State history book this year. The students learned that the Huguenots were persecuted for not being Catholic in France. Nine Huguenot families came to the United States and bought 40,000 acres from the Esopus Native Americans in New Paltz and built their first Protestant church. They also built beautiful homes that are 360 years old in the style of the French Huguenots. The students toured the homes and got to play colonial games and dress up in the period style.  Everyone had a wonderful time learning about New York history.
