In honor of National Handwriting Day, the intermediate school held its first ever penmanship contest.  Research shows that when done right, early emphasis on handwriting improves students' writing -- legibility, quantity, and quality!

We are pleased to announce the winners of the penmanship contest here at the intermediate school.  Hundreds of students entered.  Each classroom teacher was responsible for choosing one student from his/her class to be the representative sample.  One winner was then chosen from the third, fourth, and fifth grade entries.  The winners are listed below:

Third grade - Valerie Moore
Fourth grade - Jake Roccabruna
Fifth grade - Liam O'Keeffe

The picture at left shows the three students holding their certificates and prizes.  Photos of the individual samples can be seen by clicking on the green header at the top of this article. Photos can be enlarged by clicking on them in the new window.

Congratulations to our winners and to all of our entrants on a job well done!
