NEW CURRICULUM TAKES COMPREHENSIVE APPROACH TO PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Among its many goals and benefits, physical education is about encouraging an active lifestyle and improving health outcomes for students.

This school year, physical educator Ms. Uhelsky will be taking her 3-5 grade students to the next level of health and wellness education with the introduction of the Healthy Bodies and Healthy Minds curriculum. Learning about the importance of staying physically active on a daily basis will be paired with education on good nutritional and personal hygiene habits, and the type of activity that can help young people develop healthy bodies and minds.

To date, classes have involved presentations, videos, discussions, and related activities in the gym setting.  Ms. Uhelsky will now be partnering with teachers to bring health and wellness instruction into the classroom, for an even more comprehensive approach to physical education.
