AUTHOR’S VISIT CELEBRATES READING AND GROUNDHOG DAY

While Punxsutawney Phil was busy reading the weather on Groundhog Day, Punxsutawney Phyllis traveled to Slate Hill to visit with first graders at Minisink Elementary.

Children’s author Susanna Leonard Hill, the creator of Punxsutawney Phyllis, read from her popular book and showed students original illustrations and early drafts. A New York native, the author also shared with the students how she grew up to become a writer.

Thanks to the Minisink Elementary PTO, our first graders had a fun and imaginative time learning about the writing process, and celebrating Groundhog Day.
