HOORAY FOR WINTER: NOT JUST ANOTHER GYM DAY

Of all the seasons, winter gets the worst rap. At school, plunging temperatures and snow-covered playgrounds often mean another long indoor recess.

This week, however, if your child is a student in one Ms. Uhelsky’s physical education classes, he/she had to be saying, “Hooray for winter!”

Monday through Thursday, all of Ms. Uhelsky’s students in grades 2-5 experienced a thrilling gym period outdoors, snow tubing downhill—and trudging their way back up for another joy ride. Mr. Murphy kept everyone safe, and performed a handful of uphill rescues.

For a seasoned PE teacher, winter is as good a time as any.
