Minisink Valley High School seniors Erin Clifford and Jack Wilson Golden were recognized at the Senior Scholar Athlete Breakfast of the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association on April 20, at Kuhl’s Highland House in Middletown.


Erin Clifford – A swimming, diving and golf athlete, and a high-achieving student, Erin’s activities and accomplishments include the National Honor Society, Class Vice President, Class Treasurer, Varsity Club, Future Business Leaders of America, Team Captain, NYSPHSAA Diving Champion, Times Herald Record Swimmer/Diver of the Year, and Diving All-American. Erin’s grade point average (GPA) stands at 100.13. Her community service includes the food pantry at Holy Cross Catholic Church, and math tutoring. In the fall of 2017, Erin will attend the University of Connecticut on an athletic academic scholarship as a pre-med biology major. 


Jack Wilson Golden – A swimming and baseball athlete, and high-achieving student, Jack’s accomplishments and activities include the National Honor Society, Key Club, peer tutoring, Co-President of the Film Society, and Swim Team Co-President. His GPA stands at 99.29. Jack’s community service includes the annual Minisink Veterans Dinner, Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast, Kiwanis Corn Festival, tutoring, and life-guarding. In the fall, Jack will attend Binghamton University and pursue a major in pre-law and political science.


Dave Telgheder, MVHS Assistant Principal, was warmly received at event as guest speaker. A Minisink graduate, Mr. Telgheder was an outstanding baseball player. He went on to play successfully at University of Massachusetts, and then professionally with the NY Mets and the Oakland Athletics. He later returned to MVHS as a teacher. As a school administrator, Mr. Telgheder continues to give back to the youth of our community.
