With 38 athletes on the roster at the outset of August practice, Minisink Valley boys cross country team is off to a strong start to the 2017 fall season.

Leading the team are seniors Jamie Granata and Scott Wortmann, and junior Aiden Berlinski. Granata and Wortman qualified for the New York State Public High School Class A Championship meet a year ago. Berlinski narrowly missed qualifying for the state meet.

The 2017 team returns 5 of 7 runners from last year’s school-best, third-place finish at the Section IX Class A Championship meet, and adds 14 freshmen who were part of the varsity track and field team last spring, as 8th graders. The incoming athletes are led by Steve Struk and Alex Krupinski.

For valuable team points this fall we will be counting on a handful of returning varsity runners, including senior Ben Hopkins, juniors Nate Mason and Caelen Munsch, as well as senior Frank Hauber, a newcomer to the program.

The season opens with a home dual-meet against division rival Washingtonville on Wed., Sep. 6, followed by a non-league meet on Tue., Sep. 12, in Port Jervis.

The September schedule also includes two invitational meets: Sat., Sep. 16 at Bear Mountain State Park; and Sat., Sep. 23, at the Bowdoin Park XC Classic in Wappingers Falls.

Come out and support your Minisink Valley Harriers this fall, as they take on some of the top cross country teams in Section IX!
