A MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL KENNETH HAUCK

Welcome to Minisink Valley High School, an exciting and challenging place to learn!

As a Class of 1989 Minisink graduate, I am a testament of the exceptional educational experience our school has to offer. All through my Minisink high school career, my teachers and coaches alike were fully invested in my success, and they helped me become the person and the educator I am today.

It has been an honor to come back and work alonside MVHS faculty and staff, and to pass on the experience I enjoyed as a student and athlete to future generations of Warriors.

In my 22 years of service in Minisink, before taking on my current role, I served as a physical education teacher, health teacher, coach, and assistant principal.

The principal position is both challenging and exciting as we continually work to enhance learning opportunities, and expand college and career choices for our students.

Beginning in the summer of 2019, as part of a capital project approved by voters in 2017, we will begin the construction of a new cafeteria to provide greater seating capacity and serve students in a more timely fashion. The existing cafeteria/kitchen space will be repurposed to house new programs and course offerings — i.e., culinary arts, photography, media production and computer labs — as well as storage for the drama club, and two small conference rooms.

To be built as an addition facing the back parking lot, the new cafeteria will feature tiered indoor-outdoor seating for multi-purpose use including large-group instruction, activities and events. A solar-panel roof system will help offset some of the building’s utility costs and provide a solar-technology learning station for students.

Over the last few years we have added courses from SUNY Orange and Syracuse University, as well as general electives to give students new opportunities to explore 21st century education and career paths.

In addition to rich instructional curriculum, we encourage our students to get involved in school life through the manifold extra-curricular activities, clubs and athletic programs we have to offer. You will gain valuable experiences, make friendships for life, and give back to our supporting community.

A balanced combination of course work and school activities is the secret to the best high school experience and a well-rounded education.

Your courses will be challenging as it is our mission to meet and exceed New York State Learning Standards and graduate lifelong learners. But teachers and administrators alike are vested in your success and the success of our school. We are here to help and support you achieve your educational goals.

Take pride in yourself and in your school. Work hard to be the best person you can be, and stand up for what it right. As you acquire new skills and develop your character, be mindful that you represent more than yourself. You represent your family, our school, our community — and you are the future of America. HAVE A GREAT YEAR!

GO WARRIORS!!
