Composing A Comic:
Students will view and discuss art work from the pop art movement, focusing on Lichtenstein & Warhol.  There will be a  discussion on arranging a composition and ways to create the appearance of movement.  Using a viewfinder, students will select a portion of a comic strip to enlarge into an action drawing.  They will then develop and create text for their comic that will help their image tell a story and stand on its own as a work of art.

Whats Your Impression?
Students will learn about the different artistic periods and styles of painting with the primary focus being on Impressionism.  After completing several color theory exercises, students will select a strip from an Impressionist painting.  This strip will be glued onto their work surface, from which, students will expand their composition matching brush strokes, hues and values from their chosen strip.  Students will create an original landscape painting that stems from a master work.   Your challenge should you choose to accept it . . . find the hidden strip in each painting!
