Minisink Valley’s enhanced breakfast and lunch meal service, offered during this extended school closure began today, March 20, with staff, volunteers and Board of Education members delivering over 2,000 meals to identified families who are in need because they don’t have transportation.
This is now a porch delivery drop-off everyday, Monday through Friday. Volunteers will be in compliance with the social distancing requirements by knocking on doors and departing.
“We are so very grateful for everyone doing the grab and go breakfast and lunch delivery for Minisink Valley Central School District,” Karen Kessler wrote in a note to the district. “You all are a Godsend! You rock! Thank you so much. My transmission blew on my car on March 13 so the delivery is so very appreciated. We are so thankful.”
Remember, pickup meal service continues only at Minisink Valley Middle School between 7 and 10 a.m. Monday through Friday in the back of the school at the cafeteria entrance.
“This effort epitomizes what it means when people say, ‘it takes a village,’” said Superintendent Brian Monahan. “Because of the dedication and commitment of so many fine people, children in our school community will have the breakfast and lunch meals they deserve. Their efforts are shining examples of care and concern. This is what makes Minisink Valley so amazing.”
