A March 16 message from Superintendent Brian Monahan on school closure

Dear Minisink Valley school community:

Thank you again for the ongoing patience and understanding that you’ve shown to us as we all navigate our way through this never before seen extended school closing.

PLEASE NOTE: Yesterday, March 15, Orange County Executive Steven Neuhaus revised his March 13 initial recommendation for schools to be clsoed to an executive order, currently still in effect through March 27.

We know that you have many questions, including: what types of educational materials we are providing; what meaningful activities we are suggesting to help students maintain their skills during the closure; and the plan for distributing “grab and go” breakfast and lunch items for our students enrolled in the free and reduced meals program, among others.

We ask for your continued patience as we finalize this work on Monday, March 16.  As we have always done, we will post information on the district’s website and will advise you via our push notification system when this information is available.

Our administrators, faculty and staff are working very hard during this challenging time and I commend them for their commitment and dedication to their students. Their work on Monday reinforces what I have always been proud to say:  Minisink Valley  educators and staff are simply the best. You will not find a finer group anywhere.

Thank you for your ongoing trust in safeguarding the health, safety and security of your children.

Sincerely,

Brian C. Monahan
Superintendent
