An update on the status of repair work tied to the Jan. 21 water line break at the Intermediate School

sign saying "update"The remediation and repair work on the Intermediate School classrooms affected by the Jan. 21 water line break was completed this past weekend.

The work was completed under the guidance of the safety/risk management team from Orange-Ulster BOCES and the New York State Department of Labor. All the necessary safeguards were adhered to as this project was completed.

Some classrooms were reopened today, Feb. 3.  However, some teachers and students will be returning to their classrooms as soon as possible pending the completion of the balance of the work in those areas, such as new flooring installation and related items.

We remain grateful to the faculty and staff of these affected classrooms for their work to continue their students’ academic lessons in temporary classrooms and for minimizing any impact this may have caused.

Thank you again to Building and Grounds team for its ongoing and extremely careful oversight of this work.

Lastly, thank you to the parents and guardians of students whose classrooms were impacted for this short-term period. We appreciate your understanding and for continuing the at-home conversations about how people do come together during disruptions like this to ensure student learning continues in a safe and nurturing environment.

The health and safety of our students, faculty and staff always remain our first priority. Thank you again to all involved.
