Assistant Wrestling Coach Scott Hendershot honored for his 400th team win

Minisink Valley Assistant Wrestling Coach Scott Hendershot was recently honored for a rare coaching achievement in any sport: His 400th team win.

wrestling coach with adminstratorsCoach Hendershot — who teaches sixth-grade math at the middle school — has coached high school wrestling for 22 years, with the last 17 years at Minisink Valley.

High school wrestling teams traditionally wrestle 20 to 30 matches per year. Coach Hendershot has reached the 400 team win milestone in the quarterfinal round of the 2020 Section IX Dual wrestling coach with familyChampionships on Jan. 7.  A team celebration was held at Minisink Valley on Jan. 8 during at the Section IX Dual Championship finals held at Minisink Valley.

“Our 2019-2020 wrestlers, Minisink Valley alumni, parents, our full coaching staff, high school and central office administration, Board of Education members and Coach Hendershot’s family were on hand to celebrate this wonderful accomplishment,” said Athletic Director Tim Bult. “Thank you, Coach, for all you do for our student-athletes and the Minisink Valley community.”
