Dear Minisink Valley Class of 2020 and school community:

I’m writing to follow-up on our plans for graduation for the Class of 2020.

We were hopeful to see evolving guidance from New York State on the numbers of people who could attend outdoor graduations.  Unfortunately, we did not see that happen this week, and so we are proceeding with plans to have a live, on the field graduation ceremony on Friday, July 31 at 6 p.m.

The July 31 date is in response to our students, parents and community’s request for us to put our best efforts into doing everything possible to have as close to a traditional graduation ceremony as possible, as per past years. They also understand that state mandates and restrictions would require modifications to a traditional graduation ceremony.

Everyone wants our seniors to be “on the field” with all their peers, at one time, at one ceremony. Everyone wants their families and friends watching this momentous occasion with minimal restrictions. We understand the importance of a single, traditional graduation, even with expected modifications.

Scheduling gradation for July 31 now gives us the very best opportunity make this happen.

Please note: Our traditional Baccalaureate program will be held the week of July 27. Additional information will follow on this.

The health and safety of our students, faculty, staff and everyone visiting our campus always remains our first priority. Thank you for your continued patience, understanding and support of our plans as they will be based on the governor’s orders, guidance and decisions about conditions at the time.

Sincerely,

Kenneth Hauck
Principal
