Dr. Scott Hines has been selected by the Minisink Valley Board of Education to fill the recently vacated board seat, following the board’s interviewing of candidates at its Nov. 12 special board meeting.
“We welcome Dr. Hines to the board and look forward to the valuable contributions he will make to our important work this school year,” said Joseph Flaherty, Board of Education president. “Dr. Hines joins a dedicated group of individuals who have one common interest in mind: Ensuring each Minisink Valley student is best prepared to be college, career, and socially ready to make a positive impact on whatever they chose to do.”’
Dr. Hines was sworn-in this evening, Nov. 12.
Mr. Flaherty thanked the seven community members who asked to be considered for the vacant seat.
“To have so many people step up and say they are interested to be on the board, particularly during a pandemic, speaks to the positive character of this community,” said Mr. Flaherty. “Our school district is successful because of an engaged community who want to see their children receive the best possible education. The board remains grateful for the community’s ongoing
support of our work, and that of every administrator, faculty and staff member, to make this happen. Thank you to everyone, and thank you to the seven candidates for their interest. We know we can continue to count on you to support the district’s mission.”
This board seat is available until the next election, which will be held May 18, 2021.
