Four weeks until high school graduation! Principal Kenneth Hauck provides an update on plans

Dear Class of 2020 students and families:

cap and gown photosIn just four weeks, we will celebrate your graduation with an in-person ceremony on Minisink Valley’s football field!  As you know, the decision to hold graduation on Friday, July 31 was based on your request to us to put our best efforts in to have all of us together for one ceremony.

We remain cautiously optimistic this can happen. But it’s very important to stress this is contingent on the many state and local mandates and restrictions that will be in place at that time. We will be required to follow those mandates and restrictions, and we appreciate your ongoing acceptance of this.

However, I also want to stress that we are committed to working within those mandates and restrictions and hold the best possible “live” graduation we can.   We understand the importance of a single, traditional graduation, even with expected modifications, and remain hopeful this will still take place.  But, even if we need to modify this plan, we will still host a “live” event on campus. We will share those final July 31 plans later this month, so please be sure to keep this date on your calendar!

In the meantime, in recognition of our graduates who will be entering the military this month and who will not be able to attend the July 31 ceremony, we are hosting a small, invitation-only private ceremonies.  We know you understand the importance of recognizing your fellow classmates who are dedicating themselves to our nation’s service. Please join me in thanking them for their forthcoming military service, congratulating them and wishing them well on their next journey in life.

The health and safety of our students, faculty, staff and everyone visiting our campus always remains our first priority. Thank you for your continued patience, understanding and support of our plans as they will be based on the governor’s orders, guidance and decisions about conditions at the time.

Go Warriors!

Sincerely,

Kenneth Hauck
Principal
