MINISINK VALLEY JUNIOR MATH TEAM SECURES 2ND PLACE AT MID-HUDSON FINALS

Whatever your feelings about math, the odds are you can learn just about anything if you work hard enough.

Ask Danny Dusevic, Noah McGinnis, Travis Lysyczyn, Wesley Mardyniak, Hannah Veety, and Kevin Wortmann—Minisink Valley’s Junior Math Team who worked their way to second place at the Mid-Hudson Valley Math Team Finals on Wednesday, Jan. 10.

Leading up to the finals, students competed in five area-meets throughout the season, and won in their section. At the finals, the MV team faced off six other Mid-Hudson Valley schools.

Veteran team member, Travis Lysyczyn, received special recognition for the highest percentage of correct answers among all participants throughout the season, and earning the most points as a team member in all competitions. “The Math Team is the best way to see where you stand, as a math student, compared with students from across the area,” Travis said.

MV's Junior Math Team engages students in grades 6-9 who show an interest in mathematics and problem solving. The advisor is math teacher Ashley Hamilton.

Congratulations to all!
