Something new and beautiful is shining bright on the walls of our district's Board room, as of last night when MVHS students in Mrs. Tangney's adapted art program presented a gift to the Board of Education.

The Collaborative Collage Mural was a project specifically designed to build team-working skills. Using a leaf-shaped cutout, students lifted many a paper leaf off of colorful magazine pages. One by one, following a color progression, they assembled the leaves to create a striking flower-like collage.

“This project taught me a lot about collaboration, and it gave me a very relaxed feeling to work with the colors and patterns,” said Andrew Cesarz, a ninth grader who joined Mrs. Tangney in the presentation to the BOE. “It makes me feel good to know that our work will be enjoyed by our Board members and the community.”

Contributing artists were Gregory Biancorosso, Andrew Cesarz, Dale Ervin, Travis Kowalczik, William Lachenal, Jonathan Ortiz, and Kristopher Talmadge.

Next time you participate in a BOE meeting, take a moment to appreciate our students’ artwork.
