KEY CLUB SERVICE PROJECT RECOGNIZES THE VALUE OF EDUCATION

MVHS Key Club members have been juggling multiple service projects this month, including the sale of yuda bands during their lunch periods.

Handmade by children in Zimbabwe and Guatemala, yuda bands are sold as a service project in U.S. schools to build scholarship funds for youth in developing nations who cannot afford a basic high school education. All proceeds go to a student in need. Involved school groups get to choose whom they will help, and they can even meet that student via Skype.

“Our project will help a young girl from Zimbabwe, a country where education is a luxury for millions of children, especially girls,” said Tiana Popstein, a club member. “The bracelets come in beautiful designs and are of good quality.”

Upcoming opportunities to buy a yuda band from the Key-Club during the high school’s lunch periods (9:58 a.m. to 1:38 p.m.):

  • Thu., Feb. 15
  • Tue., Feb. 20
  • Wed, Feb. 21
