BLACK HISTORY MONTH: BUSINESS STUDENTS PRESENT ON BLACK BUSINESS LEADERS

In honor of Black History Month, students in Mrs. White Money 100 course were challenged to choose an African-American business leader and research their impact on the business community.

The complete assignment involved a five-slide presentation and a three minute speech about their leader of choice, and what they learned from them.

Reece Hernandez elected Michael Jordan for his success in business, as well as in basketball, and his extensive charity and fundraising work to help improve the lives of minorities.

“I chose Oprah because of what she has achieved in her lifetime, and how she has been able to impact people all over the world,” said Naomi Hernandez. "Having the title of the ‘Most Generous Celebrity’ is an honor that speaks of her character, even in the face of fame and wealth.” While Oprah’s enterprises are many, Naomi highlighted her contribution to more accessible education for children around the world, and her impact on journalism and publishing.

From Oprah, Naomi hopes to learn perseverance through hardships and obstacles, and the value of being respected.
