A determined group of 29 Intermediate School girl runners in grades 3-5 participated in the largest girls' empowerment race in the Hudson Valley, on Saturday, Nov. 18, at the Rockland Lake State Park in Valley Cottage, NY.

The annual Girls on the Run Fall 5K draws some 2000 runners from across the region. Minisink’s girls were accompanied by Assistant Principal Deborah Gallant, Tara Guyette, Coach Su Vignola, and cheered by family members. Some of the adults ran along with our students.

“Even before the race, our girls took great joy in practicing their runs around the Minisink campus,” Mrs. Vignola said. “At the event, they loved having the chance to run a 5K with a family member, and they enjoyed making new friends and connections. It was a real pleasure to see their STAR POWER shine through!”

A life-changing, non-profit organization for girls in grades 3-8, Girls on the Run empowers girls to recognize and activate their full potential, and boldly pursue their dreams. Girls are inspired be joyful, healthy and confidence through a fun program that creatively integrates running.

Congratulations to all our runners!
