Not since the Halloween parade did elementary school students have this much fun in the school’s parking lot!

The 15th annual Transportation Day, on May 23, delivered racy cars and motorcycles; trucks of all sizes, for all purposes; police cars and ambulances; fire, EMS, police and National Guard service men and women; farmers and utility workers. There was even a unicyclist clown who didn’t know which way was up.

“The idea is to give kids the opportunity to see and touch all kinds of transportation vehicles and ask questions of the exhibitors,” said long-time Transportation Day organizer, Kimberly LeBlanc, a bus driver for the district. “The fact that we have many regular exhibitors each year, makes it that much easier, and it becomes a community effort.”

The Minisink Valley Elementary School thanks the following organizations and individuals for their generous participation in this year’s event:

• Mr. and Mrs. Dolan, with convertible
• Tyler Durbin, motorcycle
• Johnson Fire Co.
• Macaroni the Clown
• Minisink Valley Transportation Department
• Mount Hope Police Department
• John Newhall, 1963 Plymouth Belvedere
• Rutgers Engine Co.
• Slate Hill Fire Co.
• Stewart Air National Guard
• Town of Greenville Highway Department
• Town of Wawayanda Highway Department
• Mr. and Mrs. Wright, 1934 Chevy Pick Up

Participants were treated to a barbecue lunch.
