Intermediate school team to participate in New York State Odyssey of the Mind tournament; first time in many years any team has gone to state competition

OM teamGOOD LUCK to Intermediate School Odyssey of the Mind team members Faith Padavano, Sylvia Glebocki, Olivia Pollock, Samuel Blake, Samantha Kastle, Luciano Palacios and Fiona Talbot, who are competing tomorrow, March 23, in the New York State Odyssey of the Mind championships at Binghamton University!

This is the first time in many years that a Minisink Valley team has qualified for state competition.

The team, coached by  Stefani Carporlingua and Danielle Cornacchio, will present  Problem 1: “OMER to the Rescue, Again.”

For this problem, OMER, OM’s “raccoon mascot,” and his sidekick travel to different places with suitcases holding all parts of an OMER-mobile vehicle. Both assemble and ride on the vehicle, which needs to function in different ways “to save the day.”

Between attempts, the vehicle will be disassembled, put back into the suitcases, and taken to a different area where it is reassembled and driven again.

Finally, the OMER-mobile is thrown a hero’s parade as a show of appreciation.
