Minisink Valley Girls Basketball Program earns OCBOA’s annual ‘Sportsmanship Award’

Girls baskeball team and coaches receiving award

The Minisink Valley Girls’ Basketball Program was recently honored by the Orange County Basketball Officials Association (OCBOA) by being awarded its annual Sportsmanship Award.

The award — a banner — is presented to a school district with a basketball program that has demonstrated the greatest sportsmanship across all levels of play (modified, junior varsity and varsity teams) that season.

The girls’ basketball program received this recognition and banner just prior to the start the final varsity home game on Feb. 25, which was also the varsity team’s “senior night.”

Rich Dever of the OCBOA joined game officials to present the banner to Head Coach Jim Golden, JV Coach Bruce Guyette, Volunteer Assistant Coach Arielle Heppes and members of the varsity and JV teams.
