This is an annual gift of dictionaries part of Kiwanis’ national program called “The Dictionary Project.” The project’s goal is to assist all students in becoming good writers, active readers, creative thinkers, and resourceful learners by providing them with their own personal dictionary.

According to The Dictionary Project, educators see third grade as the dividing line between learning to read and reading to learn, so we encourage our sponsors to give dictionaries each year to children in the third grade.

“Students enjoyed looking up various words to find their meaning, part of speech and spellings,” said Assistant Principal Julia Downey. “Thank you to Kiwanis for doing this wonderful project for our Otisville students.”
