MVTA, CSEA, BOE and district adminstration participate in #GivingTuesdayNow to benefit district’s kindergarteners with food insecurities

school suppliesThe Minisink Valley Teachers Association (MVTA), Civil Service Employees Association (CSEA) members, Board of Education members and district administration participated in #GivingTuesdayNow, a new global day of giving and unity in response to COVID-19 today, May 5, by donating and distributing bags of school supplies, books, and a few special surprises to the district’s kindergarten students with food insecurities.

“We are committed to our Minisink Valley school community and to our students’ academic success,” said MVTA President Theresa Uhelsky. “Being a part of #GivingTuesdayNow was something we knew we needed to be a part of, and we hope these gifts put a smile on the faces of our youngest Warriors.”

CSEA members were equally happy to be a part of today’s gift giving.

people stuffing bags“CSEA employees enjoyed taking part in this team venture with the teachers and administrators today by giving our kindergarteners these care packages,” said CSEA President  Robin Rotolo. “We have felt a lot of love over these past weeks and hope that the children know how much they are loved and missed by all of us.”

Superintendent Brian Monahan echoed the union presidents’ thoughts, adding: “We are honored to partner with MVTA and CSEA and look forward to seeing how these items help our kindergarteners. When we first heard about this initiative, we wanted to be a part of this as well.  Thank you to everyone for their donations and for getting the bags ready for delivery. We are very grateful to everyone.”
