Congratulations to the Eighth-Grade Band and Choir, which earned a rating of “excellent”  at the May 16 the Trills and Thrills Music Festival at Six Flags Great Adventure in Neptune, N.J.

Their performances were held at Neptune High School, followed by a visit to Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, N.J.

“The Festival gives our students a chance to experience a different kind of performance opportunity,” said Eighth-Grade Band Director Laura Hulle. “These types of performances are important because they get our students out of their comfort zone by performing in a location that is unfamiliar. Students have to really focus on the task at hand since we are being rated on our performance. It’s nice to hear constructive feedback from the adjudicators who are sometimes college professors or educators in surrounding states. We also had the opportunity to hear some of the other groups in performance this year which was something new for our students.”

The Trills and Thrills Music Festival at Six Flags Great Adventure is an adjudication festival for student music groups. It's a unique opportunity to combine music education, social interaction and fun while  reinforcing ensemble musical standards.
