Otisville Elementary Concert Band

The Otisville Elementary Concert Band performs tonight, Jan. 21 at 7 p.m. and Wednesday, Jan. 22 at 2:30 p.m.  featuring four pieces performed by the entire band.

“Meet Our Band” will take the audience on a tour of the band and introduces each instrument section.  “Dance of The Jabberwocky” is about the Jabberwocky, a dragon-like creature from the famous book “Through the Looking Glass” by Lewis Carroll.

Band Director Maria Fenfert added “Faith of Our Fathers” is a beautiful chorale with soaring melodies complete with lush harmonies. “Bringer of War” is an arrangement of “Mars: Bringer of War” which was originally composed by Gustav Holst and features exciting rhythms and melodies that one would expect of a piece with such a title.

In addition to the band pieces, the concert will feature seven different chamber groups.  The groups are student-made and rehearsed and they will perform familiar songs like “Jingle Bells”, “Ode To Joy”, “When The Saints Go Marching In”, and “Baa Baa Black Sheep.”  These chamber musicians have worked very hard to master their music and to learn to play together without a conductor.

“Come out and support these talented students who have been working so hard to create a memorable experience,” she added.
