Otisville students “jump the donut” for healthier hearts

Otisville Elementary students “jumped the donut,” skipped for heart health, Student smiles at camera while jumping rope in the gymand joined the American Heart Association’s (AHA) Kids Heart Challenge, Feb. 25-March 1.

The Kids Heart Challenge replaces the “Jump Rope for the Heart” program, but the focus is the same: teaching students the importance of eating healthy and exercising to maintain good heart health.

For the fifteenth consecutive year, Otisville jumped to the challenge and raised another $8,400 for the AHA. A “Jump the Donut” competition was added to the traditional jump rope exercises to help boost fundraising efforts.

Over the years, the school community has contributed $88,000 for the research and treatment of heart disease, and raised the heart-health awareness of all its students.
